The Class of 2020 W has been under the radar. In his junior campaign he averaged 8 point and five rebounds a game. While his team looses their top scored this is where Mayar looks to fill in next season.
“Next year I expect to play well at Judge. We lost our main scorer (Mack Tarver), therefore I need to pick up my averages.”
With some new height added to a polished game, Mayar could be a problem in 3A next year. With a 6’7 W at Judge Memorials disposal Mayar could easily use his guard skills to pull out other bigs from the basket. He could also take smaller guards into the paint and turn and get easy looks at the basket.
Consistency is always a key for young players. Mayar has neen working on his game so that he could develop a consistent outside shot. “This summer I’m working on creating my own shot and being able to shoot the ball consistently from three.”
With consistent reps Mayar will just increase his upside for the next level. Deng has yet to turn 17 and will enter his senior year shortly which means he is still growing.
Mayar’s current strengths include getting to the basket. His ability to attack will lead defenses to adjust. With length and added size Mayar is a tough defender. Look for him to add more blocks to his stats as well. Mayar is a great prospect and we expect his stock to rise.
Deng Mayar is playing for Uneek Ballers this Grassroots season. Uneek Ballers is based out of Las Vegas, NV. Mayar is getting more exposure this year as he is aware of the opportunities that are up for grabs this year.
