Hard Work Region – 17U Power Teams

Hard Work Region – 17U Power Teams

Weekend two of the Hard Work Region was highlighted by more big performances from the South Dakota Attack and the Minnesota Fury.  We break down the Hard Work Region Power Teams, now!

The Power Five!

South Dakota Attack. The South Dakota Attack is currently the number one rated team in the Prep Hoops Dakota Region with a 9-0 record that includes impressive wins over several squads listed below.  Matthew Mors has been a constant in the headlines but hot shooter Kobe Busch and big man Alex VanKalsbeek are now being talked about during college basketball staff meetings regularly as well.  Don't forget wing Akoi Akoi and Josh Arlt as both have also played key roles in the great start for the Attack.  The Attack will be in action next at the Battle at the Lakes.

Minnesota Fury Zurn. Fury Zurn is 10-2 on the young season having played Omaha Elite, South Dakota Attack, Wisconsin Crusaders, Wisconsin Swing, and the Minnesota Comets DLR among others.  Charlie Katona is coming off a fantastic weekend (great five game run) where he led the team in scoring with an aggressive approach.  Guard Nathan Heise is one of the hottest names in the Midwest at the moment and few guys are playing the team game that Brady Williams is (offered by St. Cloud State during the Hard Work Live event).  It's a solid team that has another five games this weekend at Wayzata High School.

Team Factory Gold. After a strong showing in Council Bluffs, Team Factory traveled to Kansas City for the UA Rise event and went 2-2.  The biggest new from their program was that colleges in California seem to love Max Murrell.  After a fantastic weekend in the Hard Work Region Kickoff, Max took his team to an even higher level in KC leading to San Diego, UCSB, and UC-Davis all offered Murrell scholarships.  That's four D1 offers for Max.

Minnesota Heat Vang. Through two events Minnesota Heat Vang is 5-3 but it's an impressive mark for this club.  Why? The Heat opened in St. Cloud and had some troubles leading to one score losses to both Team Get Shook and ECI.  The bounce back was one score victories this past weekend beating Team RWA on a buzzer beater plus defeating a good defensive team called the ET21 Buckeyes 61-59.  The Heat also gave South Dakota Attack one of their better challenges of the season.  Like the way that Tait Nelson and Micah Ladd are running this team, Josh Brown looks like one of Minnesotas better shooters, and how about Daydor Phillips having a couple big weekend games?!

Minnesota Fury Kallman. Fury Kallman is 6-2 on the year and rapidly pushing up the Minnesota 17u top 25.  The team suffered an early blow when they lost their best prospect Lincoln Meister to an injury on the last day of the high school season.  Six-foot-3 Josh Rogers has been one of the stories of the 17u season so far.  Josh led a super young Millers team in scoring this winter at 15 a game but because the team struggled few people noticed.  Everybody is noticing Josh and the Fury Kallman squad now! Fury K is playing in the Meg Vang Invitational this weekend.

Next Five

Team RWA.  After three events RWA has a solid mark of 8-4 heading into May.

The Work Foundation.  Went 4-0 in Madison leading to an 8-2 record through three events this spring.

H.I.T.  Had a tough weekend in Milwaukee dropping their record to 5-6 but the talent on this team has the potential for a big final 3 months.

Minnesota Heat West. The fact that Heat West is 10-2 on the year is a testament to what well taught, hard working defense can do at 17U.

Iowa Mavericks Cleveland.  These kids are non-stop as they've played in four events already! A 6-2 mark in PH Circuit games.
