We start with some of the standouts from the rising senior class.
Dominic Woods, 6-4 G, Serra/ Los Angeles Elite
On a team that has a number of good prospects, Woods possesses the most upside. A 6-4 wing with nice length, a sweet shooting stroke and improved handle, Woods put together a nice weekend.
Steve Stinson, 5-10 G, San Diego/ SDA Soldiers Gold
Known as a scorer, Stinson’s competitive fire on defense caught our attention in a win over the San Diego Spartans. He picked up full court and turned over opposing guards and dove after 50/50 balls. Offensively, he was dialed in too, scoring from all three levels and finishing plays through contact.
Justyn Hunter, 6-0 G, Fairfax/ Los Angeles Elite Bryson
Hunter’s Fairfax pedigree shone bright in an exciting win over Relentless Nation, where he scored the game winning layup, an ensuing steal and game-sealing free throws in the final 29 seconds. He scored it prolifically off the dribble and mixed in some shooting from deep. Above all, he makes winning plays.
Savaughn Davis, 6-3 G, Mission Bay/ SDA Soldiers Gold
Davis had an up and down junior campaign, but appears to be back on track this spring. Against the San Diego Spartans, he got downhill at will and scored through traffic at the rim. When the double came, he made solid reads and got his teammates involved. Davis also rebounds well for a guard his size, allowing him to initiate the transition offense.
Jordan Montgomery, 6-0 PG, Rancho Christian/ SDA Soldiers Black
Cat quick and savvy in the pick and roll, Montgomery did his best to keep SDA in the game against a tough You Ball Team. Montgomery possesses a high IQ and feel and is improving finishing around the basket.
