Class of 2020 Sleeper Prospects

Recruiting is what sites like this are built on. But Kentucky is under-recruited as a whole. There are many good players who fly under the radar every year and end up being great players at the next level because coaches missed on them. Recruiting analysts like to call those kids sleepers. Every day on Twitter you can find players complaining about "being slept on" and there are some of those kids out in our state. Here are some Kentucky Juniors who need to be getting more college attention.

[player_tooltip player_id="783041" first="Amari" last="Taylor"], Tates Creek - Amari is a strong guard who can play either spot in the backcourt but he doesn’t get the love from his coaches that he should. If he wanted to play selfish, Taylor could be a leading scorer in the city of Lexington. Amari does just about everything well. Some coach will get a solid 4 year contributor when they get a commitment from Amari.

[player_tooltip player_id="915109" first="Noah" last="Courtney"], Male - Noah is a victim of being the tallest kid on the team. He has the body of a wing or a stretch 4 but has to play the post at Male. Courtney’s best asset is his motor. He’s a kid who goes all out, all the time. Don’t be surprised when Noah is an all conference player at the next level.

[player_tooltip player_id="915115" first="Nik" last="Sorrell"], Glasgow - You won’t find many better all around athletes than Nik. He plays and stars in 3 sports for the Scotties and that’s probably why he’s not been recruited at a high level for basketball. But the kid can score the ball at the highest level. If he goes to a Mid South Conference school, he’s going to be a factor for 4 years.

[player_tooltip player_id="709056" first="Jalen" last="Scott"], Conner - He doesn’t get as much pub as others in the state but Jalen is a strong scorer that also knows how to lock his man up defensively. The knock on Jalen is a lack of elite athleticism but he can score at all 3 levels and plays both ends of the court. Some D2 or small D1 that needs a shooting guard is going to get a good one with Scott.

[player_tooltip player_id="915110" first="Dre" last="Boyd"], Warren Central - When coaches say they want a "dog", Boyd is most definitely a dog. He’s got good positional size and plays super hard. He can really guard and bully his way to the rim. The knock on Dre is that he’s not a good shooter but he works and will be the best player he can be when he gets to the next level.

[player_tooltip player_id="915146" first="Cion" last="Townsend"], Tates Creek - Cion missed his Sophomore season after a transfer so he is a little off the radar but he is skilled. He plays with an edge to his game and is a good passer that can also get into the paint and kick to teammates. As long as his attitude is right and he lets himself be coached, Townsend is capable of playing at the next level.

[player_tooltip player_id="915117" first="Ben" last="Carroll"], Greenwood - You don’t find many 6’6 combo forwards just wandering around Kentucky. Carroll had a big Junior season for the Gators and possesses a good skill level. Greenwood hasn’t made the regional tournament in a very long time but Ben’s abilities can help get them back. As it stands, some coaches need to be checking in on Carroll this fall as he can play at the next level.

[player_tooltip player_id="783047" first="Trevon" last="Harris"], John Hardin - Harris is a lot like [player_tooltip player_id="783041" first="Amari" last="Taylor"] in that he affects the game in a lot of ways. Trevon can score, rebound and really guard. Harris is long and athletic but needs to become more aggressive on the offensive end to get those offers rolling in. He does everything else very well.
