Adidas DC Saturday P.M. Standouts
WASHINGTON, DC – Adidas is in DC this weekend for its regional qualifier, and Prep Hoops is in the gym checking out local prospects. Below is a breakdown of five standouts from Saturday’s evening contests.
FAVOUR AIRE | 6’9 C | NEW WORLD/MCNAMARA ‘22
You’ve got to love the ways in which Favour Aire can protect the paint. His length and shot blocking instincts are evident immediately, but he will also step up and take a charge on occasion. Aire is active in help side defense and has strong hands with which he can secure the ball in traffic.
MALCOLM ALEXANDER | 6’4 G | DC THUNDER/BULLIS ‘20
Malcolm Alexander caught fire at times against Team BBC during what turned out to be the most competitive of game of the day. Alexander is handling the ball more and unlocking playmaking attributes that we’ve never seen before.
TYLER BRELSFORD | 6’4 G | NEW WORLD/MSJ ‘20
He doesn’t do anything flashy, but Tyler Brelsford can run a team efficiently as we saw during New World’s win over a talented Loaded NC squad. The GW commit doesn’t take bad shots, and the shots he does take are high percentage looks.
JAYSHAUN FREEMAN | 6’0 G | TEAM BBC/KENT COUNTY ‘20
JayShaun Freeman displayed a nice blend of skill, quickness, and craftiness. Freeman scored in a myriad of ways against DC Thunder this afternoon.
JOSH ODUNOWO | 6’5 F | TEAM BBC/RESERVOIR ’19
Josh Odunowo brings ideal toughness to any frontcourt, and we saw more evidence of this today. Odunowo is a relentless rebounder and fearless rim protector who must be accounted for on the offensive glass. He is skilled in the post, and has good footwork which along with his ability to consistently finish in traffic makes him a tough matchup.
