Prospect Spotlight: Tanner Henningsen (2021)
With his sophomore season now behind him, Gilbert sophomore Tanner Henningsen is gearing up for a 16U season, and will be a guy who can do a little bit of everything or All Iowa Attack this spring.
A 6-foot-3 wing, Henningsen is a very strong shooter, but he’s also a distributor, plus he’s a solid rebounder and defender.
“I think that I do all the little things really well, like rebounding and blocks. I like to get everybody else involved, but I can also score pretty well and I had some pretty good shooting numbers this season,” said Henningsen.
The sophomore led Gilbert last season with 5.9 rebounds per game. He also scored 10.2 points per game with sterling 52/52/83 shooting clips. He was more concerned with the team accomplishments, though. Gilbert finished the season 18-5.
“It was a super fun season, and early on in the season I realized we could be really good,” he said.
Now, Henningsen is set to start his 16U offseason with All Iowa Attack 16U. They’ll be playing this weekend at the Super 16 in Ames. His goals for the offseason are to have fun and improve.
“I’m going to stay in the weight room and try and get stronger and more athletic. I’m just trying to get better every day in practice and in tournaments,” said Henningsen.
“I’m hoping to get a few college coaches interested in me, but that’s not my biggest concern, I know that will come. I’m just looking to get wins with my teammates, have fun and get better.”
