Here’s a quick look at some of the players whose stock is trending up as they head out to play in front of coaches this weekend.
- Howard Fleming, Male – The long and athletic Fleming has a great feel for the game and seems to finally be healthy after battling injuries the last couple of years. Currently playing with Hoop Dreams, Howard is going to be a popular name with coaches after this weekend if he plays like he has the first couple of events.
- Tyren Moore, Male – Howard’s teammate with the Bulldogs, Tyren has been solid for Manimal Elite the last few weekends, resulting in a Juco and a D2 offer over the last couple of weeks. Moore isn’t a great athlete but he is a shot maker and a tough kid who works hard. He may not quite make the D1 level but he’s going to be close.
- Jalen Scott, Conner – Scott now stands at 6’4 and has been showing the ability to score the ball at every level thus far in the AAU season, including being a good post scorer. Jalen won’t blow anyone away with athleticism but he’s got a high IQ and if he repeats his shooting performance from this past Saturday (8-9 from 3 in two games) he’ll get offers.
- Dre Boyd, Warren Central – Dre is big, strong and athletic with great feel for the game. He doesn’t shoot the ball great but he has the tools to guard and score on opposing wings. He rebounds well as a guard and plays super hard. Boyd more than holds his own against D1 caliber players.
- Amirion Joyce, Paducah Tilghman – After playing in Atlanta a couple of weekends back, national scouts labeled Joyce as a low to mid D1 prospect. His name is now out there now and if her performs well, offers may not be far away.
- Cole Benson, Ryle – One of the few legitimate big post players in the state, Benson has had a good start to his AAU season but will need to perform in front of the coaches this weekend to keep his stock trending up. He has some floor stretching ability but will need to play with a consistent motor to impress the coaches.
