The versatile wing, who can make an impact on both ends of the court, discussed his team’s performance, his overall game, and talked recruitment with Prep Hoops during a recent interview.
PH: How would you evaluate the team’s performance vs. Cape Henry?
JC: “We came out like we usually do. We pressed the whole game, so we were able to force turnovers, get steals. We like to play fast so we get fast buckets. Score a lot inside, and we play as a team.”
PH: Your coach thinks you guys are underrated. What is the ceiling for this team?
JC: “I think we can definitely win states. When I transferred in this offseason, I recognized the talent we have, so we can win states. We have the talent, we have the hard workers. We just gotta put our minds to it and keep winning games.”
PH: For those who haven’t seen you play, how would you describe your game?
JC: “I can get to the rim, I can shoot the pull-up jump shot, I’m capable of knocking down the three, and I can play defense well.”
PH: Talk a little more about your defense. It seems like your coach trusts you on the ball. What’s your role defensively?
JC: “Coach usually asks me to pressure the ball-handlers. I feel like I can do a good job because I’m long, I’m athletic, I’m quick enough to turn my man and force turnovers.”
PH: Who’s recruiting you?
JC: “Lehigh a little bit. They said they’re interested.”
PH: What do you think you can bring to a college program?
JC: “I can play defense, I can score, do whatever the coach wants me to do. If he wants me to rebound, I can rebound. Whatever the coach wants me to do.”
