Last night we took a look at the big boys in the Georgia High School basketball playoffs. Today, we breakdown classes 1A-3A. People really have no clue on how tough these small schools are. More importantly, some of the talent over the years that have come out of these small schools. Guys such as Tookie Brown( Morgan Co-Georgia Southern), Reggie Perry(Thomasville- Mississsippi State) are some of the guys that are playing in the college ranks.

Their are a ton of guys that played at small schools that have made it to the NBA

Dwight Howard Southwest Atlanta Christian

Kentavious Caldwell Pope Greenville

Malik Beasley St.Francis

Malcolm Brogdon GAC

Derrick Favors South Atlanta

Their are countless other guys from this level that have made it big. Here is what you need to look for when the Elite 8 starts this week.

3A

TATTNALL CO 21-8 AT MORGAN CO 27-2

WINDSOR FOREST 24-5 AT CEDAR GROVE 20-7

FRANKLIN CO 15-13 AT DAWSON CO 26-4

JOHNSON-SAVANNAH 21-7 AT HART CO 22-7

FAVORITES

Morgan Co has been the powerhouse of 3A over the last 5 years. Led by Tyrin Lawrence and Alec Wooddard, Morgan Co could win it again. Don't be surprised Dawson Co meet them in the finals. The darkhorse out of this class is Franklin Co. Franklin Co received the at large spot in 3A because, Region 1-3A has four teams in the region. They only take 3 out of four teams from the region to automatically get playoff berths. The last spot from the region is at large berth. Franklin Co has made the most of their playoff run so far. They won both games on the road by defeating top seeded Central Macon , then the next week they defeated perennial powerhouse Beach. Watch put for Cedar Grove also.

TOP PLAYERS

Jaylin Williams Brantley Co

Brandon Harris Johnson-SAV

Devon Barnes Cedar Grove

Luke Chisolm Dawson Co.

Alec Wooddard Morgan Co

Tyrin Lawrence Morgan Co

HIDDEN GEMS

Darrien Cone Tattnall Co

Dezman Kennedy Tattnall Co

Michael Graham Johnson-SAV

Christian Mobley Windsor Forest

Stevie Green Morgan Co

2A

Woodville -Tompkins 29-0 at Elbert Co. 27-3

Therrell 23-7 at Northeast Macon 23-5

Callaway 13-10 at Laney 22-8

Vidalia 25-4 at South Atlanta 25-4

RANKINGS

1.Woodville-Tompkins - undefeated, only been around about 5 years. deep and talented squad.

2.South Atlanta- hornets may be one of the best teams in the state, regardless of class.

3. Each year, 12 teams have a legitimate shot at winning it all. The number 1 seed this year is St.Francis. They are led by Xavier commit, Dwon Oden. This class has seen a different state champion almost every year. That shows you how deep this class is. The team to watch out for is Christian Heritage. AJ Kent and Drew Clements are a nice duo for the Lions.

TOP PLAYERS

Lamar Oden GREENFOREST

Mekhi Cameron ELCA

AJ Kent Christian Heritage

Dwon Odom ST.Francis

Chase Ellis St.Francis

Trevon Reddish ELCA

Nate Brown Greenforest

RJ Noord Greenforest

Tre Chatman North Cobb Christian
[caption id="attachment_252393" align="aligncenter" width="300"] South Atlanta Hornets[/caption]
Bobby Moore North Cobb Christian
