We now take a look at the junior class, and discuss the names and games of the final San Diego prospects to appear in the update, and a look at players I think should be included in the next update.
Prep Hoops 2020 rankings update – Final 3
Albert Pichardo, 6-3 WF, Army-Navy Academy (#78 overall)
Pichardo had a breakout spring and summer with the San Diego All-Stars, but his production has dipped slightly, largely due to an improved Warriors roster. He still plays a lot of point-forward and is the glue that holds things together. Developing his driving and scoring with his off hand will need to be a priority during the offseason.
Trae Taylor, 6-5 F, Mission Bay (#87 overall)
There’s a lot to like about Taylor as a prospect. He’s got a long, gawkish frame, can shoot it fluidly out to 18 feet, and is a rangy rim protector. But he still has a ways to go in terms of toughness and consistency. We’ll know more about Taylor during his senior year, when he’ll play more of a prominent role for the Bucs.
Philix Kilbourne, 6-0 PG, San Ysidro (#90 overall)
Kilbourne impacts the game with his ability to get both feet in the paint. When the defense collapses, he makes the correct read and collects assists to cutters or open shooters. The lefty is strong enough to absorb contact and finish plays at the basket himself. Developing his right hand and becoming more consistent shooting the ball beyond 15 feet is the next step in his development.
