With the season underway and closing in on the Holiday Break, Prep Hoops takes a look at several 2019 wings who have raised their profile in the early stages of the season.
Dallas Bond, 6’4, PF, 2021, Tonganoxie. @Dallasbond5
A standout football player and athlete, Bond reports a 4.54 40-yard dash, an elite time for a player his size and age. That athleticism and size translates well to the hardwood where Bond is a standout rebounder and scorer around the basket. He jumps well, runs the floor exceptionally well and likes to post up and use his size. He is leading Tonganoxie in scoring at11.6 points per game and has added 6.4 rebounds while shooting 53 percent from the field.
Ty Bowman, 6’5, F, 2020, Chanute
A terrific football prospect, Ty Bowman is coming off a strong season running with Victory out of the Joplin, Mo area. He has terrific size at 6’5, 200-pounds, runs the floor exceptionally well and works hard in the paint. He rebounds well, provides a wall defensively and can finish around the basket.
Zachary Davidson, 6’6, F, 2020, Augusta
Davidson is an athletic big man who runs the floor exceptionally well, can block shots, as evidence by his four blocks in a win over Andale, and has the ability to throw down dunks. On offense, Davidson uses his size well and has the ability to score around the basket.
Kobe Johnson, 6’5, F, 2020, Ottawa
A strong physical forward, Johnson combines a big frame with a diverse skill set. He has soft hands and a soft touch and is capable of scoring around the basket, but is even more comfortable in the high post or on the perimeter. He is an elite-level passer who sees the floor and can pass out of the high post where he finds open cutters for easy attempts.
Davonte’ Yates, 6’2, G/F, 2019, Parsons @yatesinaction3
Also a football standout, Yates is an elite athlete with the ability to play above the rim at both ends of the floor. He can score over players around the basket, rebound, block shots and can put the ball on the floor and handle it well.
