Prospect Upshot: Katy Taylor vs Fort Bend Ridge Point
On Tuesday I attended a non-district matchup. Katy Taylor Mustangs took on Fort Bend Ridge Point Panthers. The Mustangs came away victorious over the Panthers 63-54. The atmosphere was nice one of the best student sections I’ve got to witness this season. Here are a list of prospects who stood out in the game.
Ky Blodget 6’4 WG / 2019 / Katy Taylor
Seen in picture above. Showcased his ability to get to the lane and finish through contact. Has a great muscular frame. Uses his athleticism to rebound and alter shots. Finished the game with 18 points and 7 rebounds. He was the game leading scorer. Would’ve liked to see him play with the same intensity from the 1st half in the 2nd half. He will be featured in our Known and Unknown vol 2.
Austin Arnold 6’0 G / 2019 / Katy Taylor
He is a D3 commit to the University of St. Thomas in Houston. Shot the ball well. Handled the roll at point at various times throughout the game. Thrived off the ball and made some deep shots. Finished with 12 points and shot 3/5-3PT.
Andrew Coker 6’8 C / 2019 / Katy Taylor
He didn’t have a stat sheet stuffing performance on paper. Finished with 4 points and 5 rebounds. Big guy that takes up space in the lane and alters shots. He is a D1 football player that has committed to Texas Christian University. He definitely helps his team defensively in the paint. Vital point to their team defensively.
Jake Arnold 5’11 G / 2021 / Katy Taylor
The younger brother of Austin played very poised. The young prospect was running point in the second half of the game. He went on a scoring rant of 9 straight points in the 3rd quarter. He finished the game with 13 points. He shot 2/3-3PT.
Isaiah LeBlanc 6’3 PG / 2020 / Ridge Point
Finished the game with 16 points and 7 rebounds. Nice tough moves in the paint. Active on the offensive glass. Came alive in the 2nd half for his team. He didn’t play as much as usual. Has a very nice dribble combo package. Had defenders going every which way.
Elijah Thomas 6’2 PG / 2020 / Ridge Point
Played solid and finished with 13 points, 5 steals, and 2 blocks. Physical guard that stays jumping the passing lanes. Really scrappy on defense. Kept his defender in front of him at all times. Great motor and gets after it.
Derwin Brown 6’2 F / 2019 / Ridge Point
Mr. Brown finished with 8 points and had 6 rebounds. 5 of which were offensive boards. Plays the forward position for his team. Has the physical toughness and a muscular build.
