Umar Lawson – Laurence Manning Academy (pictured on front)
Lawson 6’2 left-handed guard came over to the Swamp Cats this summer from nearby Lakewood HS. Lawson is very athletic and looks to attack the basket every time he gets the ball. Lawson has been very consistent in his play all season for Head Coach Will Epps. Lawson really has good length and he likes to use the cross-over dribble with a pull-up jumper.
Prep Hoops was really impressed with how unselfish Lawson played today and he made some great passes to his teammates. Lawson will be the go-to guy over the next few years for the Swamp Cats.
Justus Boone – Laurence Manning Academy
Boone just like Lawson transferred in this fall from nearby Sumter HS. Boone 6’5 plays in the post for the Swamp Cats and is still learning the game. Boone played football this past fall for Head Coach Robbie Briggs. Boone has a thick frame and seems to be best at a half court style of play. Boone finished around he basket but at times likes to put the ball on the floor.
Cainon Norris – Conway Christian
Norris 6’3 now really shot the ball well this weekend for the host Eagles. Prep Hoops first saw Norris before his 9th grade season at the Carvers Bay Bear Jamboree. Norris has deep range shooting ability and is best suited on the perimeter. Norris must get quicker feet and stronger in the weight room in the future.
James “JJ” Jones – Socastee HS (Myrtle Beach)
Jones is extremely athletic and active all over the floor. Jones plays much bigger than his size and rebounds the ball well on both ends. Jones a Wide Receiver on the gridiron for the Braves is around every loose ball on the floor.
Brodie Clark – Scotland Christian Academy (NC)
Clark is a reclassified sophomore at Scotland Christian Academy. Clark started off his high school career at Scotland County HS he told Prep Hoops. Clark has been at Scotland Christian Academy the past 2 seasons. Clark scored 87 points in 3 games in the event and broke the HTC Classic Scoring Record. Clark scored 34 points on Day 2 vs Laurence Manning Academy. Clark was even awarded the Mr Hustle Award at the HTC Classic for his efforts. .
