Jaden Akins is one of the top freshman in the state. The lefty shooter plays for Farmington High School and AAU basketball with The Family. We recently gave him a call to catch up with him and ask him some questions.
Question: What are the biggest strengths of your game?
Jaden Akins: The biggest strengths of my game are my outside shooting ability, athleticism, creativity, and ability to make plays for myself and my teammates.
Question: What do you need to improve on the most to take your game to the next level?
Jaden Akins: I feel like I need to improve on being a better leader and getting stronger during the off season.
Question: What sets you apart from your competitors?
Jaden Akins: What sets me apart from the competition is my drive to win and get everyone better.
Question: What game are you most looking forward to this season? Why?
Jaden Akins: I’m looking forward to when we play at North Farmington on January 8th because they are our cross town rivals. I’m also looking forward to when we play at Detroit Country Day on January 23rd because they have some very talented players that I am ready to compete with.
Question: Have you been recruited by any colleges yet?
Jaden Akins: I’m currently getting recruited by Georgia Tech.
Question: What is your favorite class in school?
Jaden Akins: My favorite class in school is history.
Question: What do you want to major in?
Jaden Akins: I want to major in technical engineering or business communications.
Question: What is a short term goal you have?
Jaden Akins: A short term goal I have is to just keep getting better and challenge myself or learn something new everyday.
Question: What is a long term goal you have?
Jaden Akins: A long term goal I have is to win a state championship before my high school career is done.
Question: Which college or NBA player do you consider your game most similar to? Why?
Jaden Akins: I consider my game similar to De’aaron Fox’s because we both are athletic and speedy players who can make plays for others.
