Prospect Spotlight: Zane Meeks (2019)
Shawnee Mission East 2019 forward Zane Meeks is establishing himself as one of the better young post men in the Kansas City area this spring.
He is a strong, agile player that combines hard work in the paint with a strong skill set that extends to the 3-point arc.
“I have spent a lot of time working on just pure shooting and solidifying my inside game. Jump hooks, step through, and face ups,” Meeks said. “A big than can stretch the floor and knock shots down consistently.”
After a strong spring competing with KC Team Rush, Meeks and Shawnee Mission East showed they are a team to watch this upcoming season with several solid players and a well-rounded line-up.
“June has been great with my high school team,” Meeks said. “Adjusting for the loss of 4 seniors and just seeing how guys will fill those roles. We had a great team camp and played decent in the KAMO hoops shootout. However without one of our key bigs we didn’t reach out full potential at KU team camp.”
Meeks has recently received phone calls from Princeton, Illinois-Chicago and Cornell and has received a few letters form colleges inviting him to their elite camps.
