The Spring live periods as well as dead periods have been very interesting to see, not only have the teams on the sneaker circuits have locked in who are the top teams but also teams that are not on sneaker circuits have shown how good they can be. One of those teams that you can consistently count on being in the Championship round is the Fayetteville Magic 16 squad. In just about every tournament in Fayetteville, NC I have been to in the past few weeks they have either competed or won the tournament championship.
Who are the standouts and players to keep an eye?
The leader of the bunch is Guard Adrian Elliot, in the most recent tournament championship he put together a performance of 23 Points, 10 Rebounds and 7 Assist. He continues to improve each time we get to see him and is on tap to have a very good remainder of the season as well as high school season.
Another key player is Guard Taliek Brown, he does a good job of taking over the PG duties once Elliot is out of the game and doesn’t turn the ball over at a high rate. He defends well without fouling and rebounds well from the guard spot, will suit up for 71st HS next year.
One of the more intriguing players on the team is Cape Fear HS Forward/Center Jaylen Hudson who is also a standout football player at his high school. Although he is still raw and has some work to do on his game, he already has some of the tools that you love for a big man to have. He rebounds the ball at a very high rate, blocks shots, hustles on just about every play and sets very good screens for his guards to get open. His coach informed us that he has a great work ethic and is working on his game with one of the top trainers in the area.
