Breakdown: The term Utility wing is one I have used for a while. It is what I use to describe wings that can bring versatility and skill while not being a dominant shooter or scorer. This includes things like rebounding, defense, athleticism, and ball handling. Today’s game is a lot about bringing value and sometimes that means doing all of the little things.
One of the guys who fits this mold the best is Anthony Barnard from Kokomo. He’s a tall wing who gives tons of effort and can rebound, score, and play defense. He’s not going to be a dominant offensive guy but might be more valuable with how you can use him. Others that are high up on the list are Luke Gohmann, Donyell Meredith, and Bryant Nalley.
Guys like Triston Wilkinson and Lathan Falls are on this list because regardless of the position we list them as, they can play many spots on the floor. Wilkinson is 6’3 but really he plays tall and could defend anyone from a point guard to an undersized power forward. Not a sexy thing but extremely valuable. Falls is the same way. He’ll be a guy that can defend some wings and lots of different styles of forwards. Falls will give you more offense.
