Mike Russell and Team Winston have taken the triad area in North Carolina and used that basketball talent to create one of the state’s top AAU programs over the last years. Here is a look at the 17U team.
6’5, 2018 forward Anthony Hicks, is an athletic guard with a knack for scoring the basketball. Conference Player of the Year.
David Russell III 2018 6’5 F, high IQ stretch 4. Tough, gritty. Uses body well for positioning around basket and is a great passer.
Corey Rutherford 2018 6’4 SG has quick trigger, knockdown shooter and has interest from Catawba.
Jaquan McMillian 2019 5’11 PG is a fast lead guard and strong lockdown defender. Lefty with good handle and mid range shot.
Diante Petree 2018 6’3 forward is a fighter with high IQ. Great vision/passer. Undersized High motor rebounder. Improved shooter.
Daivien Williamson 2018 6’1 PG is a pure relentless scorer. Good on ball defender. Conference Player of Year.
Larry Borland 2018 6’6 forward is a good athlete with high motor. Soft touch around the basket out to 15 feet.
Darrian Oates 2018, 6’0 guard is a great scorer with good IQ. Can find the open guy. Good end-to-end speed with the ball.
Brandon Hanna 2018 6’5 forward is a long, wiry athlete. Has great hands and quick bounce. Can attack off dribble with solid jumper.
Justice Goodloe 2018 is a 6’0 PG true PG. Runs the show. Great assist:turnover. Crafty finisher around the basket.
Tyzhaun Claude 2018 6’6 F for Team Winston, good timing on defense. Soft hands and touch on offense. State champion this season at Cox Mill.
