Recruiting Report: Parker Jennings (2016)

<strong>March 1, 2016</strong> Over his four year career Parker Jennings proved he was worthy of a full scholarship. Not only did Jennings excel on the court he dominated the classroom as well. This past weekend Jennings made his college decision choosing to head to Joplin, Missouri. Missouri Southern State University seemed liked the perfect fit for Jennings. "My family and I decided that this was the best place for me," Jennings said. "I love the team, the coaching staff, and everything about the school." With Missouri Southern State University losing their starting senior Point Guard Jennings will have a chance to have an immediate impact for them. "I feel like the coaches have trust in my abilities on the court," Jennings aid. "I will be an asset to the team." Jennings told Prep Hoops the coaches showing trust played a big factor in his decision. When Missouri Southern State University offered Jennings a full ride it was a no brainer. Jennings had other offers, but had a special connection to Missouri Southern State University. "We liked that they offered a full ride scholarship," Jennings said. "My brother went to Missouri Southern State University his freshmen year. So we know the school. I know the coaches and I'm very comfortable. It will be a great school for major." Jennings plans to major in Business at Missouri Southern State University. During Jennings time at Bixby he helped the Spartans to the State Tournament and led them in scoring his junior and senior season. This season Jennings averaged 18 points and 6 assists for Bixby. The Spartans will miss Jennings big time next season. He is a sharp shooter from the outside that plays with a chip on his shoulder. Some have questioned his talents because of his height at 5'10." But Jennings has proved his haters wrong. Jennings has the chance to have a great career at Missouri Southern State University in one of the toughest leagues in Division II basketball the MIAA. The MIAA is regarded by many as one of the best leagues in Division II. With that said Jennings could very easily end up playing in the MIAA. Missouri Southern State University offered Jennings on Tuesday. Northeastern State and Central Oklahoma are both in pursuit of Jennings as well. Jennings was excited to pick up the full scholarship offer from Missouri Southern State. “It is a great feeling,” Jennings said. “I have been to couple of Missouri Southern State’s games this year already and I really like how they play.” Jennings has a connection to Missouri Southern State with Austin Wright. Both Jennings and Wright have known each other for some time. “I am really good friends with their senior guard Austin Wright,” Jennings said. “He tells me nothing but good things. The coaching staff is young and I feel like Boschee would be a great coach to play for.” Jennings is a big fan of the style of play at Missouri Southern, but he also likes the campus and location in Joplin, Missouri. “The campus is really nice,” Jennings said. “There are lots of stuff to do and eat.” When asked about the MIAA conference Jennings echoed the thoughts of many about the conference being one of the best. As a competitor Jennings is a fan of the tough conference. “I think it is a great conference,” Jennings said. “It is a very tough league to play in and you have to be ready to play every game because there are no bad team in the conference.” Jennings recruitment is far from over. Schools in the running for Jennings include the University of Fort Smith, Rogers State, Missouri Southern State, Northeastern State, Central Oklahoma, and USAO.
