Much of the attention will be focused on top prospects such as Michael and Jontay Porter of Father Tolton, Jeriah Horne of Barstow, Dez McDaniel of O’Hara and Torrence Watson of Whitfield. However, there are many under the radar prospects that are looking to make an impact in the postseason.
Here are some of the under the radar Class 3 players who are hoping to lead their teams on a big run.
Bryce Berry 6’0″ Whitfield (2018): Athletic guard who has been really putting up some big numbers in the past two weeks. Gets to the basket with strength and can knock down jumpers. Leads the No. 1 seed in District 4.
Zach Beel 6’7″ Woodland (2016): Versatile post-player who has had some dominant games this season. Can score inside, but has the ability to shoot the 3-pointer. Also an excellent shot blocker. Leads the No. 2 seed in District 2.
Tavious Brazil 6’6′ Boonville (2016): Athletic post player who is a double-double machine. Averages 15 points and 10 rebounds a game. Team is seeded No. 1 in District 13.
Zach Burch 6’7″ Butler (2016): Powerful post player who has averaged more than 20 points a game. He is the school’s new career scoring leader. Signed with Rockhurst U.
Damien Daniels 5’8″ Hogan Prep (2018): Young point guard with excellent speed and quickness who is difficult to keep out of the lane. One of the top sophomores in KC area. Hogan is No. 4 seed in a loaded District 13.
Nigel Ferrell 6’2″ Lift for Life (2016): Talented shooting guard who averages close to 20 points a game. Can score on the drive and hit the perimeter jumper. Team is No. 3 seed in District 5.
Nolan Huot 6’5″ Fatima (2016): Very solid perimeter player who can score inside and knock down 3-pointers. Fatima is the No. 1 seed in District 9.
Charles James 5’8″ Northwest Academy (2016): Diminutive guard with tremendous quickness who excels in the open court and in transition. Averaging 16 points a game. Northwest is the No. 2 seed in District 5.
Garrett Kesterson 6’5″ Fair Grove (2016): Excellent wing player who is averaging 21 points a game while shooting 44-percent from 3-point range. Fair Grove is No. 2 seed in District 11.
Dylan Keller 5’11” Scott City (2017): One of the top 3-point shooters in the state. Hit eight treys in a game this season. Scott City is in a very good District 2 field.
D.J. McNew 6’0″ Mountain Grove (2016): Senior guard who does a little of everything for his team. Averages 19 points and seven rebounds a game.
Trae Meny 6’4″ Palmyra (2018): Talented young wing player who is a excellent knockdown shooter from distance. Panthers are the No. 2 seed in District 7.
Jakob Partee 6’5″ Clever (2017): The junior forward is a strong inside player, averaging 19 points and seven rebounds a game. Clever is the top seed in a very competitive District 11 field.
Demarcus Sharp 5’11” Charleston (2018): Excellent young guard who can really shoot the 3-pointer and play good defense. Big part of a Charleston team that is the top seed in the District 2 tournament.
Tyree White 6’7″ North Tech (2016): A long, athletic combo forward who can swoop in for dunks. Also has an improved perimeter game and better 3-point stroke. North Tech is the top seed in District 6.
Corie Williams 6’3″ Saxony Lutheran (2017): Versatile junior swingman who leads a talented group of underclassmen that led Saxony to a 20-win season. The No. 3 seed in District 2.
Nathan Wilson 6’4″ Licking (2017): Excellent wing player who is averaging 25 points and seven rebounds a game. Licking is the No. 2 seed in District 10.
Sterling Wooten 6’3″ Cardinal Ritter (2016): Smooth wing player who has constantly improved his game throughout his career. Very explosive athlete who can handle the ball and knock down jumpers. Ritter is the No. 1 seed in District 5.
