Coach Bob Fredericks has done a terrific job with the cast of players he has had at his time at SCA. Looking ahead to the future and even the present it is hard to miss 2019 F Ethan Spry standing at 6'6. Growing up Spry was often considered one of the better players in his class. As he enters his freshman campaign, Spry's name will continue to rise in basketball circles here in Arizona.
This past summer Spry was able to get his feet wet against elite HS competition playing with SCA. Spry said, “summer league went great, it gave me a chance to get acquainted with my coaches and teammates and start developing chemistry.
Spry loves playing for Coach Fredericks & the program at Scottsdale Christian. “Coach Fredericks is amazing and he has assembled a great coaching staff. I look forward to developing their over the next 4 years.”
In July, Spry began to become known on the AAU circuit playing with Arizona Stars 2018 now known as Alvin Gentry Elite. Spry enjoyed his experience in July adding, “We played a tough tournament schedule. Going to tournaments in Kansas City, Atlanta, & California. It was an awesome experience to play against some of the best in the class of 2018.”
With the HS season officially underway, Spry spent most of the preseason working on his “strength, athleticism, along with my ball handling, and post/mid range game.”
Spry goes on to say, “At SCA, we are very optimistic about our season, we have a high level of talent, good depth, and height.
In terms of recruiting Spry is already receiving interest from PAC-12 programs like Stanford, and other D1 programs like UCSB.
Spry says, “when the time comes I'll be looking for a school that values academics, and has the degree I am looking for.
