Recruiting Report: Sean Washington (2017)

<h2>October 22, 2015</h2><p>Atholton shooting guard <strong>Sean Washington</strong> is ready to enter into a starting role with the Raiders this season, and hopes to see his recruitment rise in the process.</p> <p>Though he has heard from one Division III school, he says the rest of his college interest is coming in via his high school coach right now.</p> <p>“My high school coach has told me about different schools that have been interested in me. But he doesn’t want to tell me which ones yet until I get late into my high school career, so that I focus more on playing and not so much on what school are looking at me,” said Washington.</p> <p>“I’ve been told it’s mainly D3 schools, but that there’s a couple of D2 schools that are interested. And then over the summer I was contacted by Goucher College, I think it was their head coach.”</p> <p>The talented 2017 says his recruitment, and his future, is something he thinks about often.</p> <p>“Every time I step on the court I’m always hoping whatever I’m doing at that time will help me get to where I would like to go,” he said. “And my future does really have an influential role on me right now.”</p> <p><br /> "This offseason Washington spent his time playing with a talented Maryland 3D squad, and says his defense was much-improved.</p> <p>“I noticed a big improvement this offseason playing defense -- on-ball defense, help defense,” said Washington. “I think that definitely is the best thing I can bring to a team now, and was definitely my best improvement this summer.”</p> <p>With his defensive skill-set in place, Washington says his jump-shot will be his next area of emphasis.</p> <p>“Offensively I like to make sure that everybody gets involved, and if I get the chance to score, I can shoot the ball or go strong to the basket and try and get a foul or put the ball in the hoop,” he said.</p> <p>“For me to be able to play at the next level though, I feel I really need to work on my jump-shot, and that’s what I’ve really been working towards between AAU season and this upcoming junior season.”</p>
