Long Commits to ISU
Early Friday morning Prep Hoops Oklahoma got wind of 2016 Mustang Shooting Guard heading the Iowa State Cyclones way. Scout.com’s Director of Basketball Recruiting Evan Daniels broke the news of Long’s commitment.
Prep Hoops Oklahoma caught up with Long on Friday to get his thoughts on his commitment to Iowa State. The official visit Long took last weekend to Iowa State sold him on the Cyclones.
“I fell in love with the coaching staff, the players, and the campus” Long said. “I think it is a situation where I can really have an impact early and have a chance to compete at a really high level.”
With Iowa State playing in the BIG 12 Long will be able to play at home in Oklahoma in front of his family twice a year at Oklahoma and Oklahoma State.
“It is very good that I can play close to home and my family can watch me play,” Long said. “
Iowa State is ranked in many publications preseason Top 10. The Cyclones basketball program has thrived in recent years under Fred Hoiberg. This past offseason Hoiberg took the Head Coaching position with the Chicago Bulls.
Iowa State announced Steve Prohm as there new Head Coach in June. Since taking over Prohm has been working to assemble a top notch 2016 recruiting class in the BIG 12. Long is ranked second in the 2016 Class in the state of Oklahoma.
At the two Long is a very physical tough defender. He thrives getting to the basket on offense with his physical nature.
